This photo was taken at Buffalo Bill Resv. this last Sept. I cannot resist taking a photo of a rainbow. I meant to post it sometime ago but forgot I had it. It is no wonder that I enjoy my walk everyday.

This am it was blowing snow and very cold, we saw the 2 muskrats that live in the bog. The ravens that think we are invading their space daily, lots of geese and ducks, a few deer and this tiny bird that I have no idea what it was, I wondered why it was out in this weather.

I have meant to blog, I have missed all of Nov. so I think I need to make up for that. My goal is to write something atleast 4 X a month. I have been doing that for the most part until November. I wasn't really extremely busy, did not go anywhere, and so no real good excuse.
I have been working on some gifts and finishing up all the quilting requests for Christmas. We head to Las Vegas next week. I am not a fan of Vegas but Russ has continuing ed. and I get to go for the What? by myself most days? the gambling I don't do? My plan is to have a few small hand projects to finish up and a long walk everyday and I would like to try and find that fine arts museum I went to last time. We shall see just how much fun I can have, I am trying to go with a positive attitude.

Another View of my FFFC #38

I think I like this better, I cut the tree edge and I like it.

Another Fast Friday Challenge finished

Our challenge this month was Animals from man to mouse and everything in between. Using depth with layers, applique, trupunto and a few others. I have a few issues with this one but love how the wolf itself turned out. I did it using free-motion embroidery. I sketched the wolf out and put "sort of" fabric to match the coloring I wanted, you cannot see any of that now but it did help to guide me in color changes I wanted. I am thinking that I need to cut the tree side down a bit and I would like it much better.

On the back road to Lovell

This is a picture that Linda, Pat and I stopped to take on the back road from Powell to Lovell. I took this for Linda, she did not have her camera that day. It is made of brick, unusual for a silege.
On the other side of the road was another. so for something unusual it wasn't that day. It could be a quilt someday but I think I would need more photos and Linda is probably more likely to make it art before I would get it done.

Catherines Roses

This is a pic(below) looking down at the base of Buffalo Bill Resv. It really made me a bit wobbly looking down and just had to have a pic. We did the tourist thing when my Dad, Aunts and Uncle were visiting. I wish I had taken a few more pics of this but I do live here, I can go anytime. I think we sometimes miss out on what we have locally. I live 50 miles from Yellowstone National Park and I did go last year but this year and really most years we never go into the park. The picture with the "stairs" was to the left looking down. I wondered if they had not used those in the building of the Resv. or maybe the raising of it. They just seemed out of place on the side of this rocky area. The pictures below are of some of my art quilts. I have had them in many shows and show and tells, makes me realize it is time to get busy with some new art.

Yellow Stone was made for the TAGY challenge. I sold this one before I had it finished, sorry about the name etc on it. These were in the US Bank exhibit for the "Art Walk"

This quilt was made using paintstiks. I quilted the roses, stems and leaves before painting. I like how this one turned out. I found the paintstiks easy to use with a stiff stencil brush. This one is called Catherines Roses.

This quilt was made for Fibrations, a SAQA call for entry. It and the others I made were not chosen. Which to me only says I get to keep with me. I made this quilt a little bit, ok a whole bunch in memory of my Mom and Sister who have both passed. They both collected Angels.

Crandall Wyoming

Russ and I have been spending alot of our time in Crandall this summer. We purchased a used 5th wheel trailer, on EBay of all places. We are very happy with it and it gives us the opportunity to stay in Crandall over night, and long weekends. We have about 70 acres and have been working on cleaning our lot up. We hope to sell some lots and eventually build us a small cabin . This picture is a view and I might add not a good one as I did not realize that Zigs boat was actually in the picture until I uploaded it and viewed it. But it is an example of how beautiful it is up there. The property actually goes into the Clarks fork River about 15 feet and it is wonderful fly fishing. We both fly fish and last week caught many fish, of course we catch and release.

Maybe too much thinking!.

Yesterday we had an organizational meeting for Quilt Wyoming 2011. I enjoy being a small part in this. I have been thinking of everything I have been involved in and as I planned to go to this meeting I thought I would choose not to volunteer for anything in particular. I do not mind being a helper but I am tired of being the person getting the helpers to help. Right now I am involved in a Kids Camp this is teaching kids to quilt, sponsored by the Wyoming State Guild. also in Yellowstone Quilt Fest, an annual quilt show here in Cody. We have also been subdividing some land we own in the Crandall area of Wyoming. So life has been very busy. between all of these plus a 1/2 dozen other things I have a hand in, I feel a bit "left out".
I have not really worked on my portrait quilt for my son and his wife. I have 4 quilts that are finished except the binding, and a box sitting in my shed of quilts that need quilted. Not to mention the "ideas" in my head and a few challenges part way done, and as if all this is not enough, all those quilts that I started ages agoI would like to finish just to finish. Maybe it is time to just do what I want to do for me and not do those things that I do enjoy but in the end make me feel like I do for others and not for me. This is really something for me to take some time and just think about for awhile.

Really nice walk this am

This is a photo I took last May. It took off shortly after I snapped the photo but he will again be there tomorrow, he was this am. I think it is the same one, he has found a favorite spot and shows up just about every morning, and every morning it makes my day a little brighter. I would like to get a shot of the fox I see each morning but he is fast and as they say foxy. I love to watch him, the dogs give chase but like the bunnies we see the chase is all the fun. They might have to work if they were to catch, and I think they just like the chase so I don't worry much about the animal on the other end. I encountered a Mountain Lion this past March on my walk. What an awesome sight that was.

Again...........

I often wonder where in cyberspace things go? do they just disapear? do those "lost items" ever find a home?
I just finished a post and my internet connection was gone. So, coming back in, I signed in and now cannot find that post. Guess with the disconection I also lost the save.

Today I am off to our Textile Artist of Greater Yellowstone meeting. I love this group. Makes me want to create. That is a good feeling. We have a challenge which I wanted to work on this weekend, but honey had me putting up siding on his woodworking shop. Hate ladders. hate them more today than last week. Terrified to be up there!
anyway, back to TAGY, our challenge is to Yellow and or Stone, make a quilt. I planned on making mine of the 1988 fires. That was such a gloomey year to live in Cody. But think it would make a nice small quilt. My oldest son is a Hotshot Firefighter so my thoughts this time of year often go to firefighting. Some of those thoughts are worry, but most are just concern. He loves his job and I believe if you choose a job you love you will do well at it. I believe my son is very good at his job. Biased? of course!

Creativity and blogging

I recently read a post on Quilt Art that blogging might bring creativity. I thought that interesting. Because I have decided to blog as an objective to a goal I have of being more creative. I hope it works, I seem to loose track of time and have not posted but once this month of July.

Below this post is a photo of the bear block I designed for my friend Linda MacDonalds totem pole quilt she made. You can "sort of" see the entire totem on We of Artistic Vision blog as well as Textile Artist of Greater Yellowstone blog. (I am new at this so look those up for yourself) I love the idea, it is one of those ideas that I believe many have said "Why didn't I think of that". Linda is a very talented lady as well as a wonderful friend. I am honored to have been part of her totem.

As far as blogging and creativity, well I will let you know. It does make me want to blog a bit more. I have often said I would never do this blogging thing, it opens up my world, which I do like to keep somewhat private. I know this because I follow many blogs just to see what old friends and new ones are up to. It is a glimpse into what might be an otherwise unknown area of our lives. Was not an easy decision but then I am getting up there and change seems to be hard for me. This might be a step forward, and if in the end you see I am creative by all means let me know. This blogging thing might just have a few positives

Off to do some quilting.

This is Jackson. he was named after the lady that found him, wounded, sick near death. She took him to a local vet, where for months he was cared for. My son called one day and asked if I still wanted a cat. Well, of course. With our 2 big dogs Jackson, still being very weak was not sure about the situation. But now he is a part of our family and a love he is. I have never had a cat that actually climbs up to give a hug around the neck but he does.

Just another day

It's a start

Well I finally decided it was time. Creating and keeping up on a blog is one of my objectives to get to my goal this year. so without much computer knowledge and a little apprehension, here we go.
